2018 Healthcare Trends: The Next Generation of Wellness & Abrupt Changes in Health Plan Financing

It has been a tumultuous couple of years for the healthcare industry. Federal policy changes and recent transactions involving large insurers, health systems, and retailers will affect providers, employers, payers, and patients alike.

There are many new and emerging trends we need to pay close attention to in 2018. This session will focus on two: The significant trend of how employers are shifting away from financing their risk, and how wellness programs are evolving to meet future market and business demands.

Learning Objectives Include:

  • Gain an understanding of how HR department responsibilities can change under alternative healthcare funding strategies.
  • Learn the basics and the benefits of Employee Benefit Captives..
  • Learn the basics and the benefits of Reference Based Pricing.
  • Gain an understanding of the importance of having a greater focus on individual well-being and the whole person.
  • Understand health as a natural and necessary component of a company’s values, culture, and operational performance.
  • Learn why data, data, and more data is essential in a wellness program to drive better decisions with the organizations as well as with employees and their families

Free parking is available in the parking lot directly across from Waggoner Library which is located at the intersection of Lester Avenue and Woodard Street.  Quick Lecture Hall is located on the ground floor. 

Biographies:
Brandon Webb
is a Benefits Consultant at Scott Benefit Services with 9 years experience in the areas of Human Resources Administration and Benefits Consulting. Based out of the Scott Nashville office, Brandon advises middle market companies on comprehensive employee benefits strategy with a specialized focus on group health captives, healthcare funding, plan design, utilization analysis, pharmacy, disease, and health risk management.

Prior to joining Scott, Brandon was Regional Director for a risk management and human resources consulting firm and led an account team of industry specialists focused on the areas of human resources compliance and employee safety. He is a Certified Benefits and Wellness Advisor (CBWA) and a graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

Dina Fonzone began her career in employee benefits and health care management in 1998, working with employers and their health plans in disease management, health risk management, wellness and organizational development. In 2001 she joined Scott and has played a key leadership role in developing the proprietary health risk management process, Ovations™. She assists Scott clients in developing successful performance-driven, business healthcare strategies.

She continues to serve as a sourced expert in numerous national magazines and trade publications and is a routine presenter at national conferences on the topic of health risk management. Dina has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Health and works with medical and allied health students at Thomas Jefferson University in the Health Mentor Program. In 2015 Dina was invited to join the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) MS Treatment and Monitoring Task Force, an organization charged with developing performance measures for the quality of care, management and long-term health of individuals with chronic conditions, such as MS.
