The Affordable Care Act (ACA) - The Past, Present, and Future
Presented by
Aeron Lucas, Senior Vice President, Cowan, a division of HUB International

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, often referred to as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or Obamacare, is a complex piece of healthcare plan legislation affecting employers and individual employees as well.  Attendees at this interactive seminar will learn the basics of the ACA in terms of employer and individual requirements, as well as the legislative history of the ACA, and possible future changes.  The basics include learning about the required coverage levels and reporting requirements for both employers and individuals.

The presentation will provide a working knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) so HR practitioners have context for making and executing decisions around employee benefits with regard to plan design, compliance, and communication.

Learning objectives include:

  • Learn the history of the ACA law and the adjustments made during its history
  • Learn the basics of the ACA regulations in terms of employer requirements and requirements on individuals
  • Gain an understanding of the current proposals for changes to the ACA
  • Understand how the proposed changes could influence the compliance work, plan offerings, and communications for the healthcare plans offered through employers and through the marketplace exchanges
