Dealing with Office Romance—From Non-Fraternization Policies to Workplace Violence
Presented by Luther Wright, Jr., Attorney, Ogletree Deakins

The goal of this presentation is to discuss office romance in the post-Weinstein era.  The presentation will:

  1. Review practices for dealing with office romances, including romantic contracts and non-fraternization policies
  2. Review best practices for reviewing these relationships in the context of existing Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation Policies
  3. Discuss how office romances lead to increased harassment claims and workplace violence issues.

Attendees will learn the latest strategies for managing romantic relationships in the workplace, including policies for forbidding or acknowledging such relationships. They will also learn about romantic contracts and non-fraternization policies. Attendees will also learn strategies for dealing with romantic relationships when they lead to harassment claims or workplace violence issues.

Schedule: Doors open at 7:00 am for registration and networking. Buffet breakfast begins at 7:20 am, and the presentation starts promptly at 8:00 am.

After graduating from Vanderbilt University School of Law, Luther Wright, Jr. began his career with a general practice firm in the litigation section.  He spent the first several years of his legal career practicing in the general litigation area before joining the Labor & Employment team.  He has significant experience in the areas of labor and employment law, corporate business litigation and complex litigation, including class action and collective action lawsuits.  He typically represents management in all forms of employment discrimination litigation, including litigation based on federal anti-discrimination statutes, state statutes and common law, violence in the workplace, Fair Labor Standards Act claims and independent contractor disputes.  Luther also devotes a significant amount of his practice to day-to-day client advice and supervisor/employee training.
