This basic-level course examines the methods and processes that support job analysis, job documentation and job evaluation in order to attract and retain effective talent. You’ll cover various methods of job evaluation including quantitative and market-based approaches. Exercises help you see how the methods outlined in the course can be put into practice in your organization.

Biography: Norman A. Handshear, CCP, has deep experiences in strategic planning, consulting, designing, and executing compensation and benefit programs, as well as, a broad range other human resources initiatives. In addition, Mr. Handshear developed and executed change management solutions in several major corporations.

Mr. Handshear has held senior human resources positions at BJC Healthcare, St. Johns Mercy Medical Center, McDonnell Douglas, and Angelica Corporation. Among clients served as a Big 6 consultant were USAA, Catholic Health West, Bell South, Commonwealth Edison, Roche Chemical and US Air. As an independent consultant, a sample of clients served includes Charleston (SC) Water System, THF Realty, and Granite City Food & Brewery.

Mr. Handshear is the past national president and chairman of WorldatWork (formerly known as the American Compensation Association) as well as a life member, Certified Compensation Professional, and an instructor in the certification program.

Mr. Handshear received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and is a former Board of Trustee and Alumni Board member of Drake University. As a lifetime resident of St. Louis, he has in the past been an adjunct professor in human resources at Washington University in St. Louis and a number of other local universities.
