Evidenced-Based Decision Making - A Critical Skill for Strategic HR Leaders
Presented by Richard Moffett III, Ph.D., Professor and Associate Director, MTSU - COHRE

Strategic HR leaders face making sound decisions on a daily basis. Making sound decisions is critical to the success of an organization. One factor in making sound decisions is to base them on best available evidence using Evidence-Based Decision-Making practices. Learn how to become a more effective Strategic HR leader by basing your critical decisions on evidence and not just the latest best practice fad or CHRO success story.

The following questions will be answered:

  • What is Evidence-Based Decision Making (EDM)?
  • How is EDM relevant to the practice of Strategic HR Practice?
  • What constitutes evidence?
  • How do you evaluate HR practices using EDM?
  • How can Strategic HR Leaders put EDM into practice in their organizations?

After the presentation participants will know how to:

  1. Make sound decisions based on evaluation of available information
  2. Apply critical thinking to information received from organizational stakeholders and evaluate what can be used for organizational success
  3. Delineate a clear set of best practices based on experience, evidence from industry literature, published peer-reviewed research, publicly available web-based sources of information, and other sources
  4. Analyze information to identify evidence-based best practices

Schedule: Doors open at 7:15 am for registration and networking. Buffet breakfast begins at 7:20 am, and the presentation starts promptly at 8:00 am.
