Establishing Trust and Intimacy with Coaching Clients
Presented by Herman Williams, MD, MBA, MPH, PCC

This presentation establishes how understanding stressful and traumatic experiences in our personal lives can empower coaches to master the competency: “Establishing Trust and Intimacy with the Client”.

We all have had or have been exposed to very stressful situations, some traumatic, that we have successfully managed in our lives. Understanding the components of stress and trauma can create a level of compassion that can assist you in establishing (and managing) the natural development of Trust and Intimacy with your coaching clients.

Our time together will further utilize the Kübler-Ross – ”5 Stages of Grief” as a model to help the coach understand where your client is emotionally when an intimate stressful situation arises in the coaching relationship.

You will learn:

  • The components of painful and traumatic experiences that will sensitize you to your clients intimate coaching needs.
  • Physical gestures that allow for a deeper connection with your clients.
  • Verbal action words that trigger a closer connection with your clients.
  • How to identify where your client is emotionally by adapting the 5 stages of grief postulated in the Kübler-Ross model.
