Professional Development

Maintaining your PHR, SPHR, GPHR and/or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certifications demonstrates your commitment to staying up to date with the continually changing HR profession. To assist you with maintaining your PHR, SPHR, GPHR and/or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP designations, MT|SHRM proudly offers a number of seminars and workshops throughout the year and you can earn HRCI and SHRM credits by attending. As a member of MT|SHRM, these seminars and workshops are available to you at little or no cost and we encourage you to take advantage of this important aspect of your membership. Monthly Meetings

After Hours Workshops & Seminars

The Continuing Education Committee provides Chapter members with updates on a variety of HR hot-topics. We offer a number of after-hours workshops throughout the year that are free to MT|SHRM members; as well as half-day seminars at a discounted rate to MT|SHRM members that are held in conjunction with monthly chapter meetings. A list of workshops and seminars will be finalized and made available in late January of each year.  Registration announcements for each session are sent by e-mail and announced throughout the year on the MT|SHRM website and at monthly Chapter meetings.

The Continuing Education Committee is seeking one or two members to be on the Committee for next year. This is your opportunity to impact the effectiveness of our chapter, assist in your development and the professional growth of your peers. As a member of the Continuing Education Committee, you will provide input into hot topics of interest that will become learning workshops for members in 2011. As a volunteer, you provide input into the Committee, and help it more effectively serve the members. Legal Education Workshops

The Legal/Legislative Committee provides Chapter members with up-to-date information on state and federal employment laws.  We offer a number of workshops throughout the year that are free to MT|SHRM members. A list of workshops will be finalized and made available in late January of each year.  Registration announcements for each session are announced by e-mail and throughout the year on the MT|SHRM website and at monthly Chapter meetings.  For questions regarding Legal Education workshops, please contact Tim Garrett at tgarrett@bassberry.com.

Webinars

In an effort to meet the ever growing needs of our members and provide mobile opportunities to earn HRCI Credit throughout the year, we have recently launch the MT|SHRM Webinar Series.  One hour Webinar programs are usually offered twice a month and highlight various topics of interest to our members.  All programs are approved for credit through HRCI for either one hour of General or Strategic credit.  Although MT|SHRM promotes the Webinar programs, the actual facilitation of the presentations are provided by the presenting organizations themselves.
